I wanted to take some time to introduce myself as your new pharmacist at Davidsons, my name is Laura Bathgate. The other members of staff who will be joining my team are Shona Hunter, who I am sure many of you will know from the dispensary at the surgery, along with local girl Verity Jones, who will be looking after the retail area of the shop.
I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to become a part of your community and have moved into the area so that you will see a familiar face every time you pop in. I strongly believe that a pharmacy has a key role to play in a community like Killin, and look forward to meeting you all so we can build a good relationship and develop our services to best meet your needs.
For those of you who do not stay in the village I want to re-assure you that we will continue to deliver your prescriptions to the local shops at Crianlarich, Tyndrum and Lochearnhead with a new additional pick up location at Strathyre.
We have stocked our retail area with a range of items that are popular in other branches of Davidsons. There is a huge range available but we appreciate we might not have what you are looking for, if this is the case please just speak to any member of staff and we will do our best to source for you.
There are many over the counter medicines available within our pharmacy, without the previous need to visit a doctor, and I can offer advice on a wide range of minor illnesses. Many of you will be entitled to receive such medicines free of charge under the NHS Minor Ailments Service, please ask for more information. No appointment is necessary, so please feel free to come in and speak to me at any time. Our consultation room provides a private area where I can speak to you in complete confidentiality, away from the busy public area of the shop.
An important part of my role is to complement the role of your GP in the management of long term conditions. Again I can offer advice on a wide range of medical conditions and prescriptions. We are able to provide free blood pressure testing in our private consultation room. Additionally if you take medication for a long term condition you will be entitled to register for the NHS Chronic Medication Service.
It is extremely important that you take your medication as your GP has prescribed, however we understand that taking many different medicines can be confusing and difficult to manage. We are here to help you and where appropriate we can provide weekly compliance aids at no cost. Please speak to me if you feel yourself or a relative could benefit from this service.
Giving up smoking is one of the best things that you can do to help improve your health and at Davidson’s we’re here to help. As part of our smoking cessation programme you are invited to attend our pharmacy where you will be able to receive free nicotine replacement products and support at informal weekly sessions
