The Scottish Ambulance Service has recently appointed a new Chief Executive. I understand from speaking to a paramedic (not from Killin) one of the first things the new CEO has done is to put a blanket ban on overtime worked by ambulance crews. The service particularly in rural areas depends on overtime to provide a good level of cover for emergencies.

As a result of this overtime ban Killin Ambulance Station is closed on some weekends and on these days we rely on service other areas.

A few weeks ago I had to call an ambulance on a Sunday evening. From making the initial call to NHS 24 to the ambulance arriving was over two hours.

Can anyone confirm what s happening locally and if we are in danger of losing the ambulance station permanently?

Nobody interested in this topic? Very sad state if a serious subject like this is of no interest to residents of Killin.

    Oh yes it is!
There are serious problems and Killin Community Council are currently taking action jointly with Callander and Balfron C.C.s. who also have concerns. If you have had problems with ambulance cover please let a Community Council member know so the incident can be logged .

Ever since the changes to the out of hours medical cover and the ambulance service as indeed have various other local communities. If you have a look at the back issues of the Killin News you will se that this has been taken to te higest levels by various members of the community and the community council has been extremely active intrying to resolve the problem as they still are.

Thanks for the positive replies. Good to know I’m not on my own.
