    Hello,

Can anyone help with Family history information regarding my ancestors who where called McKillian/McKillin.

I have them in Govan in 1881 and then they moved over to Larne NI, I have nothing before this time. Story goes the family name dates back to Rob Roy as they were in his clan( this may be fable).

Any help would be very welcome

    Details;
    Robert McKillian born 1853abt,Scotland
    married
    Mary Ann Hoey
16th Aug 1876, Glenarm, Larne, Co. Antrim.

    Son
    Patrick McKillin/McKillian born 1881 Govan,Scotland
    Robert McKillin/McKillian born 1889 Govan,Scotland

Patrick is my Great grandad and Robert born 1853 would be my GG/Grandad.

    Thanks for your time

    Grahame Parker, Plymouth,Devon,UK.

    Hi Grahame,

My grandmother was Mabel’s (your grandmother’s) eldest sister. I have filled in the family tree as I have it, but have not yet put it on a GEDCOM. As soon as I do I’ll send it to you. I think we’ve been to the same website as I also have Patrick born 1.10.1881 in Govan to Robert McKillin and Mary Jane Howie, who were married in Larne 15.8.1876. I have other children as Mary born 5.2.1887 and Robert born 15.4.1889. My mother tells me she’s sure there was also a Hugh or Henry and a Martha in the family. I couldn’t find any of these McKillins in the 1881 or 1891 censuses in Govan, although there were a lot of McKillins, who could be cousins. My next move was going to be writing to the record office in Belfast for a copy of Robert and Mary’s wedding certificate, which would then hopefully have their parents’ details on it.

I do also have info on Granny Richards’ parents (she was Patrick’s wife). Her father was Thomas W Bishop and her mother Martha Matilda Bishop (nee Turner). Again the next step will be the wedding certificate.

Anyway, it would be great to swap info. Our cousin Sarah, granddaughter of Patrick’s son Cyril, is also apparently doing some research, so maybe we can all join forces. Incidentally, McKillin is spelt MacKileen on Cyril’s birth certificate.

Hope to hear from you soon,

    Nicki
