I am writing a book on the history of the MacLarens/MacLaurins and when in Killin recently I visited MacLaren Hall. I would be very interested to learn more about the MacLaren who provided the funds for its contruction and the terms of the bequest.

    Hi McLaurin

There’s a small article regarding the McLaren Hall on this site here. This article was originally written by Colin McRae a few years ago. Colin has spoken about rewriting the article when he has time. I’ll send you his details if you want to get in touch.

Also the late Ella Walker’s article “A Village History – Killin“* has a few details inside around page 10/11.
    * This is a PDF file and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader or compatable program to view

Although I don’t have a copy at my side just now I’m sure that the book ‘In Famed Breadalbane’ would have coverage of the Hall. This is available from Jimmy Gauld in the Killin Gallery or available in the local library last time I checked.

Also if you download a copy of the Killin News Index, it lists all references to the McLaren Hall that have appeared in the Killin News up to issue 82.

All these issues are available to download from this site here.
