Hi see that there have been some queries re McLarens.

My 3rd greatgrandfather Archibald Carmichael married a Janet McLaren.
They had 2 children that I am aware of:
Duncan born in 1784 & Janet born in 1788. (Easter Tullich)

Duncan married a Jean McKenzie and they had 3 children: (Kenmore)
    Archibald born 1821
    Duncan born 1824
    Peter born 1826

Duncan married a Christian Scott and had 8 children and then married Christina McIntyre and had 3 children.

I am specificlly looking for information on the McLaren side.

Perhaps someone out there sees a connection.

My great great great grand father Hugh McDougall’s (baptised 11 May 1761) parents were Donald McDougal and Isabel McLaren (married 21 Jan 1758 at Perthshire, Kenmore)

Hugh lived at Tombrek on the north shore of Loch Tay and was a schoolmaster at a “charity school” at Craigennester.
Family loreis that his father, Donald, was schoolmaster at Ardtalnaig, the original seat of the Achomer McDougalls.

    Possible parents of Isabel:

There is an Isabel McLaren, baptized 4 OCT 1730 at Fowlis Wester, Perth, Scotland with a father Hugh McClaren- source Batch No.: C113572, Dates: 1674 – 1819 Source Call No.: 1040351 Type: film, Printout Call No.: 6900273Type: film

Another baptized 09 NOV 1729 Moulin, Perth, Scotland with father Donald McLaren and mother Isabel Wallace

Hugh McDougall and wife Janet McDiarmid and children emigrated to New Brunswick Canada in 1817.

these may just be random pieces of the puzzle – but someone may link them up.

We live in a b listed thatched cottage in Lochearnhead 7 miles from Killin. We had 200 years of McLarens that lived in this house with relatives in the area. Do you know that there is a McLaren society They may be able to assist with enquiries. The chief of the McLarens appears at the Lochearnhead Balquhidder and Strathyre highland games every year where they have a McLaren tent. We have McLaren descendants staying in our holiday cottage in Lochearnhead this year. You will also find addditional McLarens searching for answers on
