Yes train to Stirling or Perth and then car hire would be easy. About an hour drive from either station.

You may also take a train to Crianlarich which is around 14 miles from Killin, Then perhaps a taxi? for the remainder if you did not wish to hire a car.

Would advise hiring a car if you are staying at Morenish unless you are good walkers! Also you could consider travelling to Glasgow or Edinburgh and driving from there. There are more trains to either or these places (about every half hour). Would be a longer drive 1.5 to 2 hrs from either Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Thanks for reply, their will be a total of 22 made up of 5 of our families,we are still trying to decide the best way to get to Morenish House

The 5 families will make their own arrangements to fly to London then either go by plane rail or car to Scotland

Are their car hire companies in Stirling?any suggestions are welcome

Yes – there are car hire companies in Stirling. you can hire a car easily from either Edinburgh or Glasgow airports or Stirling/Perth Railway stations. The big companies are represented ie Hertz, Avis etc. Check the net – best to book in advance.

You can get cheap flights from London if you book well in advance with Easyjet or some of the other airlines. Think Easyjet only fly out of Gatwick, not Heathrow but not sure.

Keep checking the net but if you see a good price for the dates you want then grab it because by the next day it could have gone up. Same applies to trains. The nearer you get to the fly/train date the more expensive it gets, particularly around christmas time. So book as far in advance as you can.

If you are staying in central London you are probably just as well on the train because by the time you travel to the airport (roughly an hour from centre of London to Heathrow or Gatwick) add in that you have to be there at least an hour in advance etc plus flying time – you could be half way up the country with less hassle. No security etc

You will definitely need a car/mini bus/whatever. Mornish is in the middle of no-where, a few miles from the village and I certainly wouldn’t fancy that walk in December/January when its freezing cold. Taxis in Killin are not exactly two a penny! – Get a car. Car hire can be booked in advance over the net.

Last bit of advice – thank goodness I hear you say. Christmas time is very busy on flights/trains etc. Please don’t leave it to the last minute or you could end up either not getting on a plane or paying a forture for the privilege!
